It’s no secret that Riley used to practice dark magic, but he gave it up gladly when he fell in love with Landon. But Riley has spent the last year trying to shield Landon from just how dark his past really was, desperate to keep him safe and hold on to their fragile relationship. Then Dyami, Riley’s old partner, returns to town and threatens to kill them both if Riley doesn’t return to his old ways…

Pumpkin scented shampoo? If he hadn’t just squirted some into the palm of his hand, Riley wouldn’t have believed it existed. Leave it to his boyfriend Landon, whose shower he was using, to find a place where he could special order holiday-scented shampoo for Samhain.
He scrubbed his scalp a little more vigorously than usual, hoping it would help get the last of the grease out from under his fingernails. He’d successfully changed Landon’s brakes, and they’d be celebrating with the coven later that night. The hot water was even helping with his perpetual headache.
It was turning out to be a pretty good Samhain after all.
He hadn’t been so confident it would. The last several Samhains he’d spent with Dyami, practicing magick that most of the community frowned on. Heck, it was magick he himself frowned on once he’d gotten out of it. He’d been practicing without her for almost a year, practicing magick he never felt guilty about after. It was generally good, but sometimes he missed all that power racing through him.
He stuck his head directly beneath the spray and massaged the soap out of his hair.
He was much safer than he had been with Dyami. He had a much cleaner conscience. He had a boyfriend who loved him and a community to be part of, if he chose. If the trade off for all of that was giving up power that made him feel invincible, then it was worth it.
Most of the time.
“Mind if I join you?” Without waiting for a response—it was a rhetorical question anyway—Landon climbed into the shower behind him.
Riley closed his eyes as Landon pulled him back against his chest. “Mmm.” He couldn’t help the little moan that slid out.
He tingled from head to foot as Landon ran hands over his chest. He was sure Landon could feel his heart suddenly pounding. At first, he’d been embarrassed that Landon could make his heart pound with just a touch, but after eight amazing months together, he’d accepted it. Accepted it, loved it, craved it.
Just like how he felt about Landon.
