I was in a training session at work when I heard the Parable of the Stone Masons, and I really enjoyed it. Here’s how it goes:
A man was walking down the street when he saw three stone masons working. He went up to the first mason and asked what he was doing. The man gruffly replied, “I’m laying bricks.” He asked the second man what he was doing, and the second man replied, “I’m building a wall.” When he asked the third man, the man replied, “Can’t you see? I’m building a cathedral!”
I think it’s a really interesting way to consider the way we look at what we’re doing, whatever it is we’re doing. Are we simply doing something, or creating something?
